SELF MANAGEMENT SKILLS – I

 1. Define self-management skills

Self management skills are the core skills that govern our attitude and approach towards life further making us self-confident.

 2. What are the three broad areas influenced by self-management?

The three broad areas influenced by self-management are Rational abilities, Personal qualities and Interpersonal skills

3. Mention the areas a person should work on for sharpening his self-confidence.

The areas a person should work on for sharpening his self-confidence are Locus of control, Self-efficacy, Self-esteem, Self-monitoring and Positive thinking.

4. Explain the meaning of self-management.

Self management means doing things on our own without anyone telling us to do it.

5. How do people work on self-management through self-monitoring?

Self-monitoring is the extent to which you base your behavior on cues from other people and situations. Individuals high in self-monitoring pay attention to what behavior is appropriate in certain situations.

6. How do self-management skills evolve?

Self management skills evolve on the following:

  • Locus of control: It is the degree to which you perceive control over a situation both internal and external.
  • Self-efficacy: It refers to a belief about your own ability to deal with events and challenges
  • Self-esteem: It is your general feeling of self-worth.
  • Self-monitoring: It is the extent to which you base your behavior on cues from other people and situations
  • Positive thinking: Our tendency to accentuate the positive aspects of situations is referred to as positive thinking.

7. Explain rational abilities and Interpersonal skills of a person.

Rational ability is the ability of the person to understand a problem and then to find a way to effectively solve it.

Interpersonal Skills include the ability to participate as a member of a team, serve clients, act like al leader when the situation demands, negotiate and work with ease with people from different cultural backgrounds.

8. What are the various factors which help in building the self-confidence of a person?

The various factors which help in building the self confidence of a person are Social factors, Cultural factors and Physical factors.
